We understand that it is not in every small business’ budget to run a big social media campaign, however, there are a few things you can do to help increase your presence on social media.
Here are our top 3 tips:
What is it that you want your business to achieve online? Sales? A following? Both? And what is your desired target market? Whatever your goals are, there first needs to be a plan for them to work. Start by downloading or creating a calendar spreadsheet and enter what each post will say and which platform it will be posted on. Organisation alongside planning is the key to success.
There are some great social media tools out there to schedule these tasks for you, like HootSuite. All you have to do is create the content! If a tool like HootSuite isn’t within your budget, we suggest starting with scheduling Facebook posts in advance. Instagram also has a ‘drafts’ feature in which you can create a post and publish it later.
Having a solid social media plan also includes research. What do the successful businesses in your industry do on social media? What aren’t they doing? Chances are there’s something you can be doing better with a bit of clever thought. Which hashtags are trending for your industry? Make sure you use the correct hashtags relevant to your goods or services.
Quality over quantity
Spamming your followers or subscribers with information all the time is annoying and will result in your audience disengaging. Don’t feel that you have to churn out every ounce of information about your business. Posting every few days is OK.
The fantastic thing about the depth of your business is that the information it brings can be spread out and marketed creatively. A quality social media post does not necessarily mean you have to share a 3000-word blog or professionally-taken photos every time.
Just because your blog post is lengthy doesn’t necessarily mean the information will be appealing to your audience. Ask yourself if the information or pictures are useful, helpful, educational or inspiring. The quality of your social media posts will outshine the quantity.
If you’re a small business wondering how to increase your followers or gain business leads then following these three steps can help grow your online presence.
